Have you ever sat and watched a movie, interview, or red carpet affair and wondered how so many Hollywood stars just never seem to age? Yet you look in the mirror and can’t help but notice that, as time goes on, your skin is beginning to sag. The last thing you want to do is undergo a facelift. Not only does a traditional facelift involve a surgical procedure, there is also a significant recovery period associated with it. Who has time for that? Well, I’m about to let you in on Hollywood’s biggest secret.

In the past, your only answer to sagging skin was a surgical facelift. While effective, surgery takes quite a bit of your time and money. There is anesthesia, incisions, stitches, all of which leave you with pain, swelling, and bruising, which equals allot of downtime. What if we told you that you can achieve a lifted, more youthful appearance without surgery? Instead, a needle and thread are all that’s needed to lift sagging skin on virtually any area of the face and body. At Clarity Medical Aesthetics, we can help you achieve your desired results with PDO Thread Lift or Silhouette InstaLift.

What is PDO Thread Lift? What is Silhouette InstaLift? How are They Different?

PDO Thread Lift and Silhouette InstaLift are non-surgical techniques designed to “lift” different areas of the face and body, restoring a firmer, tighter, more youthful appearance. Both of these techniques are FDA approved and utilize preloaded sutures to achieve the desired effects. The technique for both procedures is similar and both procedures use absorbable thread. The material used for the threads, however, is different for each procedure.

PDO Thread Lift uses polydioxanone absorbable threads, similar to the threads used during cardiac surgery. The threads are placed under the skin in a mesh pattern. This pattern helps to provide a scaffold to hold your skin up against the effects of gravity. The threads also trigger the body to produce collagen and elastin. The threads are absorbed within 3 to 6 months, leaving behind the scaffold of collagen that has formed to help continue to hold the lifted skin.

Silhouette InstaLift uses sutures as well, but the material for this procedure is made from polyglycolide/L-lactide (similar to Sculptra Aesthetic long term filler). These particular sutures use a cone technology that help secure the sutures in place. Much like PDO Thread Lift, the sutures of Silhouette InstaLift trigger an automatic response in the body that causes it to produce more collagen. And, just like PDO threads, Silhouette InstaLift sutures are absorbed over time.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

PDO Thread Lift can be used to treat multiple areas on the face and the body. It is perfect for lifting the brows, cheeks, chin, jowls, neck, décolletage, tummy, elbows, and knees. Silhouette InstaLift is perfect for treating the mid-face region on patients with moderate, heavier lax skin. This treatment is ideal for those with mild to moderate sagging and can produce instant results when placed into the deeper layers of the skin.

What Are the Benefits of PDO Thread Lift and Silhouette InstaLift?

Both procedures provide you with a non-surgical treatment option to keep your skin looking smooth and youthful. The sutures hold your skin up against the effects of gravity AND prompt your bodies response to build collagen giving you a firmer, tighter, lifted appearance. Because the threads trigger the body’s response, the aesthetic results are very natural.

In addition to the aesthetic benefits of these procedures, both PDO Thread Lift and Silhouette InstaLift are non-surgical techniques. Instead of an incredibly invasive facelift surgery that comes with a lengthy downtime, these procedures are minimally invasive and only require the use of a local anesthetic. Because they are minimally invasive, the recovery period is much shorter. Rather than having to remove the threads, they are absorbed into the skin over the course of a few weeks. Additionally, the procedure is quick. It takes less than an hour to complete. In fact, most procedures are completed in 30 to 45 minutes.

What Results Can Be Expected?

Results vary from patient to patient. Immediately following the procedure, some swelling is expected, but it will typically disappear within 3 to 4 days. Some bruising may also occur. It is generally moderate. Some patients may  see some results immediately. Following treatment, the results continue to improve, with many patients seeing optimal results at the 6-week mark. Even after the threads have absorbed into the skin, the collagen produced helps to keep the skin lifted. In many cases, the results of PDO Thread Lift or Silhouette InstaLift can last up to 2 years.
