Exilis is a skin-tightening treatment suitable for all skin types that utilizes radio frequency energy (RF) to safely improve skin laxity and soften fine lines. It is a great treatment option for patients who seek a non-invasive intervention and natural-looking improvements to skin tone.

Exilis is very comfortable and can safely be performed all year even in summer. This is the go-to treatment when you need a skin pick-me-up or you’re prepping for an event. A series of 4-6 treatments spaced 7-10 days apart is standard protocol but if you didn’t plan ahead, 1-2 treatments can give skin a noticeable boost before a big event.

HOW IT WORKS ON THE BODY:

Exilis skin tightening is an FDA-cleared mono-polar radio frequency treatment. It safely delivers RF energy along with the option of ultrasound technology. Radiofrequency with ultrasound allows for the RF energy to penetrate deep into the fat layer of skin. Delivering RF heat at this depth provides the added benefit of micro areas of fat cell destruction. Skin is heated to 41-43 degrees Celsius, the optimal temperature to stimulate collagen and elastin remodeling. This is best for areas on the body.

HOW IT WORKS ON THE FACE:

Exilis for areas on the face bypasses the ultrasound and delivers the RF energy in a controlled manner to the dermal and subcutaneous skin layers to break collagen bonds which stimulates collagen production and leads to tighter skin. The eye and jawline/jowl areas respond very well to this treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

A grounding pad will be placed on the body. Cool mineral oil will be applied to the treatment area. The Exilis handpiece will be smoothed over the treatment area delivering the radio frequency energy. Patients will experience a moderate warming sensation. Redness and mild swelling are expected immediately afterward. The redness will subside within an hour with the plumping may last up to several days post-treatment. A series of 4-6 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart is ideal to maximize results. One to two maintenance sessions per year will be needed to maintain results.
