Have you been looking into laser hair removal, or even considering it? If so, then it is important to learn about the process before signing on the dotted line. It is a really safe process in nearly all cases. However, there are some thing that can make you a bad candidate, meaning you will not get the same results as other people. We will fill you in so when you call us here at Clarity for your free consultation, you already know that the procedure will work!

Who is a Good Candidate and Who Is a Bad Candidate?

Nearly anyone who wants to be free from the doldrum of plucking, depilatory creams, razors, and waxing can benefit from laser hair removal. However, if your hair is overly light, such as white, grey, light blonde, or even light red, the laser we use may not work as well for you. It is not nearly as effective on these colors of hair, but it is usable on nearly all skin types. The laser we use is called the Cutera HR, and works over the course of several treatments.

Treatments to Expect from Our Professionals

In all areas of the face and body, we recommend seven laser hair removal treatments. This covers the traditional 3 cycles of growth that hair goes through. The active growth phase is called the anagen. Then the hair goes into the telogen phase, which is the resting phase. From there, the hair goes into the catagen, or the transition phase. We can only stop hair growth with a laser when it is in the active growing phase, anagen. As the hair passes through this phase, the growth is halted, allowing multiple hairs to be stopped at once. The problem is that not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time. That is why we must spread out the treatments to hit all of those phases.

Just after the first treatments, most patients begin to notice the amount of hair thinning. After each treatment thereafter, the hair will continue to decrease until it is all but gone. Then, in a short time, your dark hairs will be a thing of the past, as will all of the time previously lost to ridding your body of those hairs.

Our Pick of Lasers

Here at Clarity, we opt to use the Cutera HR. In our experience, this delivers the best experience to each of our patients. The handpiece that we hold provides superior cooling to the skin during each treatment. This allows visits to be completed more quickly and patients to be back to what they would much rather be doing in less time. The Cutera HR comes in two wavelengths, allowing us the best range of assistance. We can use the 755 or the 1064, so we can help all skin types from fair to darker complexions.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Laser hair removal is considered to be a permanent treatment, so long as all of the treatments are completed. For incredibly stubborn hairs, you may need the occasional touch-up, but for the most part, people notice that their hair is gone or nearly all gone after the traditional seven treatments.

What About Safety Concerns?

Many people wonder about the safety of laser hair removal. Here at Clarity, we always take the time to test a small area of the skin before we continue with any additional treatments. This patch test will let us know how your skin handles the laser. In nearly all cases, the skin shows no issues and the treatments can commence. Should we or you, notice any sign of irritation, we will determine the whether to move forward or discuss any other options we could provide to you.

Laser hair removal is a safe, easy process. It is great for dark hair anywhere on your body that you want to stop having to wax, shave, or pluck out.
